HOTEL AKELARRE

Hotel Akelarre is located in San Sebastián on the north side of Monte Igueldo facing the Cantabrian Sea. Designed by Madrid-based architecture studio Mecanismo, headed by Marta Urtasun and Pedro Rica, the boutique hotel consists of five stone volumes positioned around a three-Michelin-star restaurant run by chef Pedro Subijana. With the central focus of integrating with the locality, the hotel features elegant, minimal interiors that open up generously to the landscape. Each of the 22 rooms, set over two levels, is oriented towards the sea and includes floor to ceiling windows and an outdoor terrace. Panoramic sea views can also be enjoyed from the decking and landscaped gardens connecting the terraces, from the sunken outdoor lounges on the rooftop deck, and from the wellness area that includes a swimming pool, sauna, Turkish bath, gym, and treatment rooms. Public and private spaces are united by the use of natural materials including stone, wood and linen. Wood-panelling is used in abundance, including in the lounge where guests can enjoy the comfort of Throne Lounge Chair designed by Autoban and crafted by De La Espada.
